Blogger vs Wordpress from a SEO point of view

Blogspot and Wordpress are two well establish blog systems. When it comes to comparing them from a SEO point of view it all depends on what are you hoping for.

If you are planing to use your own hosting then Wordpress is the winner. The control you have over your blog and the free plug ins you can find all over the place are two factors that will make your decision a lot easier. For a reasonably looking blog , keeping in mind that a good organizations of your post equals CATEGORIES. It’s very important to keep your articles separated and in predefined groups. At the moment the Google acquisition Blogger is not offering this option. There is a hack that will allow you to make a virtual category system : use a bunch of sub domains with blogspot install on every one of the. Each sub domain is basically a category. Link from the main page to each unique sub domain and you got yourself a clean and good looking site.

The problem with this concept is the way SE treats sub domains. Each sub domain is basically considered a different site. It’s hard enough to establish a good site on your own , but getting links to every sub domain is really a pain .,,

On the other hand if you don’t care about this then you might consider the value your blog will have by default being hosted on google’s own system - this will get you some well deserver points.

If you have some money at your disposal , a good template , a good hosting and full control over your content are the main reasons your should choose wordpress over blogger.

Thanks for the tips here. I’ve felt that Wordpress had better SEO. I’m going to try moving back after a recent switch to blogger. Best of luck and I’ll add your rss feed. Thanks.
