Google Offers Free Word and Excel Alternative

The Word version and Excel version can be accessed using a google account or by creating a new one here.
I truly believe Microsoft Office as we know it will be no more in 2-3 years. First of all more and more people are using laptops, pda and mobile devices so having to move your files all the time is really not a pleasant thing. What can be easier then having all your docs online ready to be edited on the spot ?
For the moment there are some disadvantages also like - excel doesn't support charts - the Ajax implementation can give errors sometimes so you can find yourself with your doc unsaved ( the auto save function takes care of most of the problems ) - the Word editor seems to be kind of slow - both of them don't have all the options you got used to in MS Office but google is getting there
The spelling is a very important tool that google manage to integrated with success into their system.
The first acquisition was Writely. After a few months of development google integrated their system and came up with google docs.
Google acquired an online company Irows that is really ahead with their Excel like editor. The 2 webmasters are now officially working for google and stop new subscription to their site. The move is aiming to add a lot of features to the online spreadsheet application.
Google also has a NotePad like editor. I would personally love to see an integration of this into the Google Office Suite. It's still lazy and hard to use but the need for a REALLY quick way to add short notes is needed. I also would love to see other names then Google Docs and Spreadsheets for the application but I guess this wishful thinking.
There are so many things to say but I guess every users should tell the world the things that they dugg inside this application.test
