Penny the Penguins Big Slide
Penny the Penguin's Big Slide
In the icy land of Antarctica, where snow stretched as far as the eye could see, lived a little penguin named Penny. She was the smallest penguin in her colony, with soft gray feathers and bright curious eyes.
Every day, the older penguins would waddle up to the top of Glacier Hill and slide down the smooth ice on their bellies. "Wheeee!" they would shout as they zoomed down the slope, landing with a happy splash in the ocean.
Penny watched them with envy. "I want to slide too!" she told her mother.
"You're still very small, Penny," her mother said gently. "Maybe next year."
But Penny didn't want to wait. The next morning, she waddled to the bottom of Glacier Hill and looked up. It seemed so tall! The grown-up penguins were sliding down, laughing and having fun.

"I can do this," Penny whispered to herself.
She took a deep breath and started climbing. Up, up, up she went. Her little feet slipped on the ice. "Oof!" She fell down. But Penny got back up. She took another step. Then another.
Halfway up, Penny's wings were tired. Her feet were cold. She sat down to rest and watched another penguin slide past her, gliding effortlessly down the hill.
"I should just go back down," Penny thought sadly. "I'm too small."

Just then, her friend Waddle waddled up beside her. "Need some company?" Waddle asked.
"I can't make it to the top," Penny said, her voice wobbly. "I'm not big enough."
Waddle sat down next to her. "You know what my grandmother told me? She said the only penguins who never slide down the hill are the ones who stop climbing."
Penny looked at her friend. "But I've fallen three times already."
"And you got up three times," Waddle said with a smile. "That's what matters. Come on, let's climb together. Slow and steady."
So Penny and Waddle climbed together. When Penny slipped, Waddle helped her up. When Waddle got tired, Penny encouraged her. They took breaks. They went slowly. But they never stopped.
Finally, after what felt like forever, they reached the top of Glacier Hill. The view was beautiful! Penny could see the whole colony, the endless ice, and the sparkling ocean waiting below.
"Are you ready?" Waddle asked.
Penny's heart was pounding. The hill looked much steeper from up here. But she remembered all the steps she took to get here. All the times she fell and got back up.
"I'm ready," she said.
Penny lay on her belly, took a deep breath, and pushed off. "Wheeeeeee!"

The wind rushed past her feathers. The ice sparkled beneath her. She was flying! Penny zoomed down the hill, faster and faster, laughing all the way.
Splash! She landed in the ocean, right next to all the big penguins.
"Way to go, Penny!" they cheered.
Waddle slid down right after her, and they high-fived with their wings.
"I did it!" Penny shouted happily. "I really did it!"
From that day on, Penny slid down Glacier Hill every morning. And whenever a young penguin struggled to climb up, Penny would waddle beside them and say, "Don't give up. Falling down is just practice for standing up."
Because Penny knew that the only way to reach the top was to keep trying, one waddle at a time.
The End
Moral: When things get hard, don't give up. Every time you try again, you get a little stronger. The only failure is stopping before you reach your goal.
